Minutes (approved) of regular meeting June 6, 2011.

Members present: Keith McCamy, Rosemary Gabriel, Maggi Travis, Seth Kaufman, Melina Angelson, Diane Mulvaney, Buffy Hartmann, Rebecca Miller and Director Lisa Richland.

Absent, none.

The Board meeting was called to order at 7:13 pm.

The minutes of May 2, 2011 were approved, on motion of 1) Angelson, 2) Travis, unanimous.

The bills were ordered paid on motion of 1) McCamy, 2) Kaufman, unanimous. The treasurer’s reports were accepted and filed for audit.

Communications: Mayor David Nyce of the Village of Greenport congratulates Lisa Richland on her appointment to the village Arts & Culture committee.

Adding to the Director’s Report, the elevator is now working, but … it is breaking down more frequently. It is old, there have been important improvements in the technology in recent years. Lisa has sought three bids for its replacement – all of them in the $60,000 range, with differences. We will seek a grant from NY state, and we should get it. Also from NY state: a tax cap. It looks like, in 2013, a tax increase will be capped at the rate of inflation, or 2% whichever is lower. Lisa will ask the advice of our attorney to guide our actions.

Committees:

Budget & Finance – letters will be sent to the Greenport and the Oysterponds school districts announcing the need for an election to approve an increase in our assessment. The proposed budget was accepted by a motion of 1) Hartmann, 2) McCamy, unanimous.

Buildings & Grounds – the bricks on the walk in front have been rearranged.

It has been proposed that the committees that address the facilities, “Buildings & Grounds” and “Garden” be renamed to “Building” and “Grounds & Garden”

Maggi Travis has donated another, matching, stone bench to complement the meditative area of the Garden.

Friends Liaison – a raffle will be held, prizes include a trip on Glory, the electric launch.

Meeting adjourned at 7:59 on a motion of Angelson. The next meeting will be July 11, at 7:00 pm.
